TELFER: Marion (Upton) of London, formerly of Kirkland Lake

Telfer, Marion W300

Peacefully at LHSC – University Hospital, London on Saturday, July 20, 2024, of London in her 85th year.

Marion is survived by her two daughters, Cindy (Chris) Doris of Peterborough and Kathy Crichton of London. Remembered by her grandchildren Jason Doris and Jacob and Grace Crichton, as well as her cherished great granddaughter Bridget Crichton. She is also survived by her sister Lou (Ward) Fowler and several nephews and nieces. Marion was predeceased by two grandsons, Daniel Crichton and James Doris, her former husband and great friend Bob Telfer, and two sisters Marge Mack and Pat Roy.

Marion lived, raised her girls and worked in Kirkland Lake before moving to London in 1981 to pursue and obtain her Master of Business Administration from Western University. She spent the remainder of her life in London Ontario. Curling, golfing, playing Bridge and travelling with her sister Marge were some of her favorite activities. She also enjoyed many winters spent in Panama City Beach, Florida. Following her retirement she balanced her time with many hours volunteering and sharing her time and expertise with multiple charities. This included many “Gutsy Walks” for Crohn’s and Colitis as well as Multiple Myeloma. Marion served on the board of directors for the Middlesex-Elgin VON in London and on her condo board.

As per Marion’s wishes, Cremation has taken place. Cremations & Celebrations, ARVA entrusted with arrangements. Donations to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Cindy I am so sorry to hear about the death of your Mom. She was always welcoming and kind to me as I made the trip to Swastika with you after school (I got to ride the school bus!) and in your Federal home too. I admire her ambition, determination and focus on raising you and Kathy, on her job, friends and career. We had strong role models, didn’t we? I am sure she is playing bridge somewhere now.
