FINKBEINER: Douglas Allan of Crediton

May 1, 1951 – June 29, 2023

Peacefully at Jessica’s House in Exeter, with his family by his side, Douglas completed his work here on Earth on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at the age of 72. He will now rest at his new home in Heaven, reuniting with his dear son Jeff (2002), parents Allan (2008) and Irene (2018) Finkbeiner, and in-laws Ted (1999) and Jean (2018) Geoffrey.

His legacy lives on with those he devoted his life to: his beloved wife of over 53 years, Darlene (nee Geoffrey), his greatly loved children; Shawn, Carrie-Lynne (Josh Kilner), and Michelle (Jarrett Jeffrey). Proud Grandpa/Papa of Jayden and Skylar Finkbeiner, Kobe (his partner Reese) and Kaden Kilner, and Dominic Jeffrey.

He will be dearly missed by his siblings, Ellis (Erlene) Stewart, Judy (Barry) Johnson, Rodger (Charlene) Finkbeiner, and Stephen (Theresa) Finkbeiner. Fondly remembered by his in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Among the many things Douglas will be remembered for is an infectious sense of humour and quick wit, his work ethic, love of farming and strength of character. His zest for life sparkled in his eyes and lit up the world around him.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to his many friends and extended family for their thoughts, prayers, and visits during this challenging time. Thanks to all the medical staff that supported Douglas along this difficult journey. Your compassionate care, along with his strength and resilience, gave more time for making lasting, precious memories. Special thanks to Dr. Khiavi, Dr. Breadner, Dr. Lam, and the staff and volunteers at Jessica’s House, SE Health, and CarePartners.

Friends may gather at Haskett Funeral Home – 456 Main St. Exeter on Wednesday, July 5th from 5 – 8 PM. A funeral service will be held at Precious Blood Catholic Church – 200 Sanders St. Exeter on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 11 AM. Interment at Exeter Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy, Jessica’s House, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
