Carl Hughes passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29th, 2024, at Parkwood Hospital, with his close friends by his side. He was predeceased by his beloved father Frank (2000) and his loving mother Madeleine (2022).
Carl will be dearly missed by his sister Maureen White and his cherished nieces Laura White, and Jennifer White. His cousins Sylvia and Anne Baribeau, as well as his dear friends Saman Maleki, Solmaz Karamdoust, and Benjamin Maleki, who will remember him with love and fondness.
A proud Navy veteran, Carl was known for his quiet nature, meticulous attention to detail and wonderful sense of humour. For the past two decades he dedicated his life to caring for his mother whom he cherished deeply.
Carl found joy in the simple things—painting furniture, tending to his garden and caring for the animals that visited his property. He was always ready with peanuts for the squirrels and chipmunks and birdseed for the robins, bluejays, and cardinals.
He took great pleasure in driving his Ford Mustang on the road, visiting nearby beaches or taking day trips. His Christmas spirit shone brightly each year as he lovingly assembled a magical, intricate Christmas Village—an annual tradition that brought joy to his friends and reflected his extraordinary patience and craftsmanship.
Cremation has taken place. A service to honour Carl’s life will be held at a later date.
