MACKINNON: Ian of London

Ian MacKinnon W300
It is with great sorrow that we announce his passing on February 18, 2024 after a long courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. His brother John was by his side.

Loving son of the late Jean and Ranald MacKinnon. Dear brother of Emerson (predeceased 1980) Wayne (predeceased 2010) John (Nella) of Blezard Valley and Heather of Sudbury. Dear uncle of Connor (Karley), Brett (Amanda) and Andrew.

After high school our adventurous Ian held many part time jobs and travelled across North America and Europe. Ian eventually settled in London and worked for Canada Post for 30 years. He loved being outdoors and always had a pocketful of treats for canine friends along his route. In his free time Ian would often take long bike rides on his 10 speed, his favourite trail being Grand Bend. He also enjoyed the many outdoor concerts London parks offered. Many Saturdays he would travel to Scarborough to have lunch with his Grandma. On long weekends and holidays he would come up to Sudbury to visit family and friends.

In the winter Ian would vacation in a tropical location. He loved walking the beach and met many friends along the way. He enjoyed sending and receiving postcards from the friends he met during his travels.

At Ian’s request, a private family service will be held at a later date.

My condolences to Ian’s siblings and their families. I worked with him back in the eighties and nineties and enjoyed his friendship very much. He certainly did enjoy his bike rides!!
Just heard about his passing recently as we kind of lost touch after retirement unfortunately. May he rest in peace..
