MCINTOSH: Betty Ruth (Ratz) of London

McIntosh, Betty Main W300

Passed away peacefully at LHSC-University Hospital, London, on Sunday November 2nd, 2025. Survived by her son-in-law Chris LeBarr. Fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Don McIntosh, whom she shared 72 years of marriage with, her children Kathryn LeBarr, and Robert McIntosh, her parents F. Wilfred and Laura Ratz, her sister Joy Harvey, as well as some of her nieces and nephews.

Betty was born in Niagara Falls on January 31, 1931. She then moved to Hamilton in 1937 and grew up in the residential community of Westdale. She graduated from the fifth-year Special Commercial Course at Westdale Composite Secondary School and was employed immediately. On August 22, 1963, she married Donald Ira McIntosh in Westdale United Church. They then moved to Stratford in 1955 when Don accepted a position at Stratford’s Teachers College and their children were born there. Then, in 1968, the family moved to London when Don joined the administrative staff of the newly formed Middlesex County Board of Education. Betty’s ear for music was a great blessing in her life; she was an enthusiastic participant in choral music, primarily in church choirs but supplemented by several community choirs. Her interests included hand bells and for many years she served as the adjudicator secretary at Kiwanis Music Festivals. Some of her other volunteer work included delivering Meals on Wheels for 14 years, being a music coordinator, holding an executive member spot on the Mission Services Women’s Auxiliary, and being president and an executive member of the Women’s Association of Oakridge Presbyterian Church. Betty was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker for whom the family came first. Gregarious by nature, she particularly enjoyed the numerous coach trips that she and Don took in Canada, the USA, and abroad during their retirement.

Keeping with Betty’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

Donation to a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
