I was saddened to read about the death of Mrs Putherbough. Although I was never in any of her classes, I did get to know and trust her as a guidance counsellor, her encouragement and kindness meant a great deal to me. She never failed to greet me in the halls, often stopping to chat, but even just a smile from her would lift my day. Always elegant and chic, she cut a striking figure—her sense of style was flawless.
I respected and admired her very much and can only imagine how deeply her loss is felt by everyone who was close to her.
My sincerest condolences to the Putherbough family.

I was one of Liz’s students at St Marys. She was without question my favourite teacher, and I was delighted to have her more than once. She was a positive and caring teacher who never “spoke down” to her students, but treated us all with respect. She brought humour to the classroom, and had a genuine curiosity about people, and life in general. I was happy that our paths crossed several times since I knew her as a teacher; at Western, at Paint Ontario (she was an excellent artist herself) and because we both inhabited the Lake Huron shoreline. Liz was a rare gem; I am saddened to hear of her passing. My condolences to her family.

To Bob, Stephanie, Stephen, and all the family: Gail and I were saddened to hear of Liz’s death and we send our heart-felt condolences. She did indeed touch many lives— of students, and also staff, in the 30+ years that we knew her at St Marys DCVI. She had a determination to get things done and always with good humour. I remember lots of laughter. She had an appreciation of beauty in the world and had talent at creating it herself through her special interests. We wish you the warmest of memories.

    Les and Gail Harrison
