Loving son-in-law of Ruth Arnett. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his mother Kathleen Gunn, and sister-in-law Gaylyn Britton.
Wally was a remarkable man that meant the world to Bev and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His warmth, kindness, humour and strength left an indelible mark on everyone he crossed paths with.
Cremation has taken place, and Wally will be laid to rest at the Pinery Cemetery at a later date.
Donations to Jessica’s House in Wally’s memory would be appreciated.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Van Osch for his superlative care and compassion during Wally’s journey and thank you as well to the wonderful staff at Jessica’s House along with the “Garden Gate Girls” in Grand Bend for the many memories made through Wally’s time working there.
I was born 21 months after Wally and we were like peas in a pod during the early days. We did everything together and I became a tomboy so I could play along, Cowboys & Indians, baseball, riding our bikes, etc.
Later when I was still in school and my mother had left home early for work,
it was up to me to get him to quit pushing the snooze alarm and get up and ready for work. He was a good mentor with always solid advice for me.
Wally will remain forever in our hearts.
Deepest sympathy to Bev, Britt and family.

To all of Wally’s family and friends, thank you for loving him, taking care of him and sharing your time with him. He was a truly good person. He was a good brother to me. I adored him.
I carried a small school photo of Wally in my pencil case to school growing up and bragged about him. (My friends admired his photo! ❤️) To Bev and Britt, who were Wally’s world, my deepest condolences and I love you and miss you.

Dear Bev, Britt, Nicole, Conner and Carson,
We dearly loved Wally, especially his sense of humour. I will always remember Bev and Wally being our camping chaperones before we were married, and the trip we did together with Britt and Thea with the motor home to Vancouver Island, and Wally teasing our kids by saying how much he loved the sound of vacuuming up lego, and his coaching Cam in hockey, and his encyclopedic knowledge of trivia… Wally’s smile is etched in my heart.
So sorry for your loss.
Love,
Josy

Bev & Family John & I are so deeply sorry to hear of the passing of Wally. I have so many fond memories working with Wally through out the years From our patient transfer years, to Pineridge catering and last but not lest The Garden Gate with our daughter . Such a kind man, always wanting to help And with a smile on his face Wally will be missed by many people .
Wally was my uncle. He was a kind and hilarious man. A model of classic, vital masculinity. Could teach you hockey, help you with your car troubles, and give you advice with your lady troubles. He’d come over for a visit and insist to shovel your driveway for you. Once he picked me up as a kid from drum lessons in London. He stopped at an intersection and noticed a cop losing a fight to a criminal in a robbery at a check cashing place on Adelaide. Without hesitation he got out, jerseied the criminal and battering rammed him into my passenger door, saving the cop. That night my dad took the families out to pizza in Wally honor as hero of the day. And for me he was a personal hero then and henceforth for reasons big and small. To paraphrase a quote from Kermit the Frog who was paraphrasing Charles Dickens, “Life is full of meetings and partings. That is the way of it. None of us will ever forget dear Walter Gunn, the tragic most recent parting among us.”
