Passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024 at the age of 88. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Angela (Meadows) Kelly and her “favorite” son in law Sean Kelly. She was a proud and loving grandmother of Shannon Kelly and Catherine Kelly who brought her much joy. She loved her visits with them and was very involved in their lives. Dear sister of Peter Lucyshyn and sister-in-law of Brenda Martin of Port Dover. Predeceased by her parents Natalia and Michael Lucyshyn of Lachine, Quebec. Mother to Okcana and Danya Hrushy.
Nadya moved from her birthplace of Lachine Quebec to New Zealand. There, she spent 50 years of her life making fond memories, friendships and a strong church connection. These people became her spiritual family and remained close right up to the end of her life.
Nadya moved back to Canada in her last years and made spiritual connections attending the Southdale Bible Chapel. She brought joy and laughter to her fellow residents and staff at the Meadow Park Long term care home, encouraging them to be positive regardless of circumstances.
Nadya will be remembered as a resilient woman with a fun and outgoing personality, as demonstrated in her photographs.
A celebration of life will be held at the Southdale Bible Chapel, 1214 Southdale Road East, London on Thursday, December 19th at 11:00am. Interment to be held at St. George’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery, Lachine, QC at a later date.
If you are unable to attend the service in person, the family invites you to watch the service live or at you convivence by visiting https://youtube.com/live/v4v7vkzNq-M?feature=share
Psalm 121
I lift up my eyes to the hills-
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
The Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip-
He who watches over you will not slumber;
Indeed, he who watches over Israel
Will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you-
The Lord is your shade at your right hand;
The sun will not harm you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm-
He will watch over your life;
The Lord will watch over
your coming and going
Both now and forevermore.

To Oxcana, Danya, Angela, Sean and family, What a wonderful woman your Mum was. She was an inspiration to all of us in Westminster Road, Wainuiomata. I well remember the late night chats about books and music. She entertained all the neighbourhood kiddies, with tea parties, shows etc. And of course, she was the catalyst for Steve’s conversion to Christianity, and an ongoing support through his journey. She surely lived her faith, and we were the richer for knowing her.
All our love to you, and strength in the days ahead.
Steve and Dianne St Merat.
