We are sad to announce the passing of William Peter John Swanson in his 74th year. Born September 14, 1950, Peter passed away on July 26, 2024 at Huron Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. His loved ones were with him every step of the way and were by his bedside, surrounding him with love, as he left us.
He is survived by his loving wife, Wendy Rush, daughter Kelly (Bobby), son Chris (Tamara), step-daughter Danica (Jamie), step-son David (Cherith) and 8 grandkids (Josh, Sophie, Oliver, Ella, Bowynn, Mackenzie, Bryanna, Anakin). Predeceased by his parents, Harold and Ruby (nee Parrington) Swanson, and brother-in-law, Gary Horlick.
Also survived by his loving siblings: Richard (Linda), Marc (Genevieve) and Elizabeth. Lovingly remembered by his Parrington family … especially his ever-so-special, “Anno”.
Peter was an avid reader, golfer and thinker! He loved being by the lake and enjoyed living in both Grand Bend and Goderich. The lake was his “quiet” place.
At Peter’s request, there will be no funeral. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Donations to the Huron Hospice in memory of Peter would be appreciated.
The family wishes to send a special “thank you” to the staff and volunteers at Huron Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.
Peter … forever in our hearts. ♥

Dear Wendy
It is with great sorrow that I give my sincerest condolences on your, and our collective loss of Peter. Over the years Peter freely gave his straightforward views on all matters relating for the benefit of community and the people around him. I particularly remember him sharing with me the love he had for you. I know it was a mutual love and I truly hope you will find comfort in all of the wonderful memories you had together.
I shall miss his laugh, his shoulder shrug, eye rolling and his wry yet wonderful sense of humour. Rest peacefully Peter. We shall miss you.

The passing of such a kind and wonderful man provides unchangeable and opposing outcomes: the wonderful release of his spirit from the burdens of his physical body and the tearfully lonely journey going forward for those that are left behind. May you find comfort in the former and strength for the journey ahead. Thinking of you Wendy and your families….
