Peacefully, with family by her side on Monday, June 22, 2026 in her 95th year. Dear wife of the late Gordon Watson (2010). Cherished mother of Fiona Watson of London, Christine Watson-Taylor and Mark Taylor of Oakville, and the late Lorna (2020) and Kevin Collins (Jill) of London. Proud Nana to David (Kalie), Stephen (Hanne), Matthew and Kathryn and Great Nana to Aria.
June had an adventurous life, from a childhood in wartime Scotland, to traveling across the Atlantic five times, the last being when she immigrated to Canada with her husband and children. She was very proud of her three daughters, encouraging and supporting them in everything they did. She worked in Early Childhood Education and eventually opened her own highly successful nursery school and childcare centre. June found great joy and purpose in operating Miss June’s Nursery School, where she welcomed countless children into her heart. Caring for others was more than a career – it was a calling that she truly loved. She took pride in creating a nurturing environment where children could learn, grow and feel loved. After retiring, she and Gordon spent an idyllic 10 years in Qualicum Beach, B.C. where she made many new friends, honed her gardening skills and enjoyed exploring the west coast as well as many other social activities. They returned to Ontario where she began her favourite role – a very active and involved Nana! Family and friends benefited from her exceptional knitting as well as her renowned baking and cooking skills. Although she faced some setbacks throughout her life, it never dampened her spirits. The loss of her sight from MD was the biggest challenge but she maintained her positive outlook and carried on. She was an amazing lady who lived a full life and will be sorely missed by all that knew her and loved her.
A celebration of June’s life will be held at the Civic Gardens Complex, 625 Springbank Drive, London on Tuesday, July 14 from 2-5 PM. Words of remembrance will begin at 3 PM. Please no black attire, wear joyful colours to celebrate this beautiful life.

I worked for Gordon and June at Miss June’s Nursery School from 1981-1984. June was my mentor and we became very good friends! She was full of energy and was tireless when it came to teaching and interacting with the children. I learned so much from her about how to live life to the fullest and those were three wonderful years for me! She met my family and we visited often over the years. I treasure the time I spent with my old dear friend. Sympathies to Fiona, Christine and family and Lorna’s family from me and Bruce RIP June ❤️❤️
My condolences to June’s family. I am so sorry for your loss. But what a life, and what a lady!
I was lucky to connect with June a few years ago while researching my family tree. I will always remember how delighted she was to know that her family in Belfast had not forgotten her and that we often spoke about her. She regaled me with her vivid memories and stories of her childhood visits to Belfast with incredible clarity.
I am sure her passing leaves a huge gap in her family’s lives, but it was a life truly well lived.
Love from Shelly, Owen, Leon and Fia in Australia.
